Osmond

Located 30 miles North of Norfolk, in Pierce County, Osmond is situated on U.S. Highway 20. With a population of around 800, it lies in the heart of irrigation country and has been known as the “Water Capital of Nebraska.” Many businesses thrive here, as they are owned and operated by individuals who have a deep sense of responsibility toward their businesses and their community. The school district has taken pride in its academic atmosphere and encourages the small class sizes that provide individual attention. There are a variety of parks that offer a quiet place to enjoy the flowers and trees as well as playground equipment for small children and a newly renovated community pool. Additional recreation includes a ballpark complex, bowling alley, and library. Osmond’s “Down Memory Lane” museum is in the back room of the Senior Center, that offers a little bit of history to visitors. About 12 miles North Rolling Hills Country Club which suits every level of golfer, from the high and middle handicapper seeking pleasurable recreation to scratch players seeking the sternest of challenges.

Main street during the day is bustling

Located 30 miles west of Osmond on Highway 20, Grove Lake Wildlife Management Area’s fishing, hunting, and camping area features one of the only trout streams in Northeast Nebraska with excellent rainbow trout fishing in the winter months. In the summer, you can observe paleontologists at work at Ashfall Fossil Beds, or travel about 45 miles North to Lewis & Clark Lake. Situated on the Missouri River between Nebraska and South Dakota, all types of water sports are available here. If you are looking for some relaxation, Niobrara State Park is located west of here, near the confluence of the Missouri and Niobrara Rivers showcasing spectacular scenic views, cabin rentals, horseback trails, fishing and wildlife watching opportunities.
