The City of Stanton is a rural community nestled in the rolling hills 12 miles southeast of Norfolk along Nebraska Highway 24. Stanton has a community base of around 1,500 residents. The community offers everything you need from health care to veterinary care; banking, insurance, salons and shops; bar and restaurants; a library; lumber yard, hardware store and auto services. There are two licensed day care facilities, a K-12 school system, and an active community club. Stanton has multiple city parks that feature, picnic tables, playground equipment, sand volleyball, and a community swimming pool. Stanton hosts annual celebrations such as the Ribfest in June, 4th of July activities, and the Stanton County Fair in August. Elkhorn Acres Golf Course is a beautiful 9 hole course just a mile southeast of town. If nature is your passion, Maskenthine Lake is a state recreation area located just two miles north where residents can enjoy the arboretum, picnic shelters, biking paths, swimming beach and year-round fishing. Wood Duck Wildlife Management Area is a series of wetlands southwest of town, where various birds, beavers, muskrats, deer, pheasants, and quail can be seen. You can also visit the Red Road Herbs Retreat & Learning Center with more than 100 herbs in cultivated gardens, cozy woodland sitting areas, and stands of native plants along a rambling creek. In season, you can join a group at Cedar Valley Hunt Club, offering fully guided pheasant, quail and white-tailed deer hunting on 1,000 acres.
